Sensitivity Conversion Theory

Understanding how to convert mouse sensitivity between different games

What is Sensitivity Conversion?

Sensitivity conversion is the process of translating your mouse sensitivity settings from one game to another, ensuring that your mouse movement feels consistent across different games. This is crucial for maintaining muscle memory and improving your gaming performance.

Core Concepts

1. Yaw Value

The yaw value is the fundamental sensitivity multiplier used by each game engine. It determines how many degrees your view rotates per mouse movement unit.

Example: Valorant uses yaw = 0.07, CS2 uses yaw = 0.022

2. cm/360° (Centimeters per 360 degrees)

This is the universal measurement of sensitivity - how many centimeters you need to move your mouse to complete a full 360-degree turn in-game.

Formula: cm/360° = (360 / (yaw × sensitivity × DPI / 2.54))

3. eDPI (Effective DPI)

Effective DPI combines your mouse DPI and in-game sensitivity into a single value that represents your actual sensitivity.

Formula: eDPI = DPI × in-game sensitivity

Conversion Process

1

Calculate cm/360° for source game

Use your current sensitivity, DPI, and the source game's yaw value to calculate your cm/360°.

2

Use cm/360° as target

This cm/360° value becomes your target for the destination game.

3

Calculate new sensitivity

Use the destination game's yaw value and your DPI to calculate the required in-game sensitivity.

Conversion Formula

New Sensitivity = (360 / (cm/360° × yaw × DPI / 2.54))

Best Practices

Use consistent DPI

Keep your mouse DPI the same across all games for easier conversion.

Test and adjust

Fine-tune your sensitivity based on game-specific requirements and feel.

Consider game mechanics

Some games may require slight adjustments due to different aiming mechanics.

Practice consistency

Stick with your converted sensitivity to build muscle memory.
